How-do-you-do everyone, I'm looking at for suggestions for some kinda cleaner that will strip the crud out of percussion nipples with out having to scrub such.

Dish easy lay works to a head but still requires a stack of scrubbing.

I unremarkably set aside the nipple to soak patc I'm cleaning the barrel. I've tried dish detersive, alcoholic beverage, hydrogen peroxide, alcoholic beverage/peroxide/Murphy's and a bore cleaner I used to mix and use up. None seemed to work any better than the opposite. When I'm done with the barrel I take the mamilla and clean it under urine in the hot water/detergent bucket I cleaned the barrel in. I practice sections of shriek cleaner about an inch long and cleaning aquatic pumps the root back and forth through the flash pickle. I never attempt to clean the flash hole with anything for fear of damaging it. I usually rich person to scrape much of the fouling around the flange to shoulder joint with a knife or pickaxe. Do not utilization cheap pipe cleaners or workmanship ones, run along to a tobacco store and buy in the top. I have a cutter that will thin out the conducting wire without leaving a burr. Soaking for longer makes it slightly quicker to clean but honestly it takes about as extended to clean a mammilla as it does to read this so why inconvenience oneself? BTW, I clean my revolver nipples the same way however I ne'er remove them. They are installed using opposed-attach or choke tube lube and lonesome removed to replace, never had any problems at that place.

To begin the major crud out I take the nipples off and put them in an old extremist sonic jewelry cleaner that my wife was loss to throw out. I fill the tank with Hoppes BP cleaner, number it along, and then proceed to clean the rest of the gun. Away the time I am through thereupon, the nipples are usually neat. I just usage a welding torch tip dry cleaner on the indoors of the nipple, and so louse up them dry with the compressor.

I fit in with Hawkeye. :metoo: That is how I used to do it until I got my ultrasonic dry cleaner. Now, I just toss my nipple(s) into the ultrasonic dry cleaner and have it serve my work for me. I as wel utilize my uiltrasonic cleansing agent to tidy my revolver cylinders. But, lacking an ultrasonic cleaner, you stern go around to your local drugstore and buy an insulin syringe. They come through with a very tiny needle that will fit into your nipple and you can use the syringe to blast out the crud.

The ultrasonic cleaner is fantastic for cleaning nipples and lots of other things but for me it isn't worth putting some solution in and plugging it certain a couple of nipples.

A great mullein tip dry cleaner will enlarge the flash hole.

I wont the cheapest brand of carburetor cleaner, usually either Walmart or Big Lots, that I can find. The little red straw, that comes with the can, just now fits in a nipple. I give them a short blast from both sides. Keep on yer powder dry.........robin :hmm: :hmm:

Tube cleaners are cheaper. I've been shooting two BP revolvers for over cardinal years, with BP and subs, and never found it untold of a chore to clean them out. I remove 'em every time, clean 'em every time, and supervene upon 'mutton with 'Copperslip' in the duds every time. I john find time to perform that, and live as asymptomatic.

Yep! the nipples were a pain to clean...I would skirmish them and swap them impermissible with opposite nipples I kept stored soaking in a bottle of Hoppes #9
I've even appropriated them the wire skirmish rack on my bench grinder....

Sorry, I didn't realize your problem when I initially posted. Grenadier1758 I like your proposition and may carry it further by oil production and tapping a piece of 1/4" steel for totally the various nipple sizes. If I use a piece of angle I could grip the vertical leg in a vise too. There have been many times when I have had to repair or remodel a mammilla and that's a outlying handier way to hold it than in my fingers.
